Nice! This is particularly interesting for people that want to run
Amiga BBSes hehe. Very cool.
AmiDeb has been released.
What is AmiDeb:
AmiDeb is a bare Linux install with just enough to run FS-UAE.
At the end of the installation of AmiDeb you have a real Debian Linux system, with the benefit of being able to update and customise the
system.
Mounting of a real CD-Rom/DVD from the host is supported. (See A3000 config.)
As AmiDeb uses FS-UAE, all features of FS-UAE on Linux are
available.
Mounting of real Amiga formatted Hard drives.
Tools on the Linux side: nano (Editor), mc (Midnight Commander [File Manager]), linux network tools.
Runing a Text based front end, FS-UAE is then launched for your Amiga experience.

shush, don't tell anyone! #-0)
Hehe, yeah that's one reason why I created it... I'll be moving my Amiga bbs to it, from it's current home on Amithlon due to some issues.
I thought that I'd release to to the public to also use...

Awesome Work!!! Now is it instead of a USB stick can we get an ISO so
it works with Ventoy?

Oh, interesting - mind delving into these a bit? I have an amithlon
I'd be curious to see what types of issues you're running into on amithlon...in my experience, it seems to work rather well.
AmiDeb is potentially of interest for running in a VPS. In fact, it's
/very/ interesting to run in a VPS.

This is pretty awesome; thanks... I just installed Amiga Forever and
have a FS-UAE install on my MacOS, but will take a l00k @ AmiDeb as I
prefer to run on *nix.
Sounds really neat for someone wanting to run... well, not bare metal
but on a bare metal machine - I'm more a VM guy, but this might have a
use case for me too. Thanks for sharing!
AmiDeb has been released.
I realize its 500MB, but I want to host AmiDeb on 2o - it could use a FILE_ID.DIZ in the root of the ZIP. :P

Putting it one a BBS didn't even cross my mind. @-O)
Plus the only reason it's a zip archive is to include the documentation and mounting a real hd howto...

You probably already mentioned this, but will this project run on a raspberry pi, or does it need to be on an intel machine? Thanks!

No I haven't mentioned it. AmiDeb uses the debian net installer .iso
and it's abilities to be scripted, so it won't work on a Pi.
You could do something with amyberry or the like though.
What's Ventoy?
\/orlon
What's Ventoy?Only the best USB boot setup. Instead of dealing with flashing a
drive each time. Download the ISO drop in in a ventoy and it will ask
you which ISO to boot when you start.

OK, thanks. Good to know!
I'll do some test's and get back to you....
AmiDeb uses the Debian Net inistall .ISO, so what ever tool people use to boot machines will work.
I use one called Easy2boot myself.

Hmmm would want to make an ISO thats self contained so it would
require the internet. Mainly because it would be cool to take places
like the cabin where internet isn't used. The cool thing is the ISO
So if I'm understanding correctly its an install script only? If yes
how much space does it take up after installation without any personal additions?
I'll do some test's and get back to you....
I have a few Pis of different flavours... or is that values for Pi?
Orange, Banana, Rasi Zero & 3b, can send one if you want to play with a
Pi installer.
I received a nice little package from core eletronics today and one
bit
of kit inside was a P4 1G... Now the mini hdmi to hdmi cable is a
different story as it's faulty... aghhhhh....

Are Pi4's back in stock??? Nice score.
Regarding that mini hdmi, I had a problem on my last P4 as well -- it
was super fiddly, and I ended up busting the socket because it wouldn't
fit quite right. Could have been the cheap cable I bought... Well, now
it's a headless pi, ha.
I'm too greedy to use my miggy for a BBS. Nope need all that power
for just me :D

To which Darklord replies...
I totally understand this. It almost seems a shame to use my Atari
MegaST4, complete with an AdSpeed accelerator, STorm-ST (TOS v2.06, switchable with EMUTos), Lightning-ST (USB support - easy SD-card
access!), 4 meg, 4 gig SCSI hard drive, 2x SCSI CD-ROM, EZ-135, and
audio mod for external speakers to do something as mundane as running
a BBS!
:)
But I do... I guess having an Atari Mega STe, Falcon 030 and Atari
STacy compensates for that... :D

Well, ain't someone braggin' today. :P
