    The Game Cosmoteer is basically a modern version of Tradewars. Its really fun and addicting. I highly recommend checking it out. It's also very low cost.

    I you have played it already what is your favorite Ship design?

    It's a separate game (not related to BBS-era). I've got the free to play
    Demo version which restricts a few features (like no online gameplay,
    can't built more devestating weapons and such).

    It's on Steam, I think Windows only (can't remember, easy enought to
    check).
