Ended up with a shrink wrapped Warp 4 with the blue spine for free from
an elementary school I was working at. They were going to throw a bunch

I can't remember exactly how I got my first copy, but it was 2.1 I
believe or 1.2. I was (still am) a programmer for IBM midrange systems
(learned from my Dad). My Dad at the time was doing some Dbase
programming I think. And he wanted something better than Windows. So he
got OS/2 and I think he got one for me so I could then help him with
    it.

We both then upgraded each release. And even turned on a few clients to
it as well. We had a CPA that just outright loved OS/2 and would not
    use anything else.

But I used OS/2 until it was retired, then I bought of copy of
EComStation and used it, and now ArcaOS.

Remember seeing something about IBM needing beta testers for 2.1 on floppy. Didn't have a system to run it on...but a ton of new floppies were more than welcome. Then a few years later...got the red spine of Warp 3 at Wal-Mart & played around with that. Then someone got me a copy of 4 to play with...but
was more enamored with Windows...so didn't bother & went back to
    Windows/Linux.

Tried to use the demo version of ECom...but couldn't come up with the money
to get a copy of it. Now...if I can tweak it & they get some more of the upgrades done to it...might get another license & run it on my main system. That's a LONG way away...unless they can adapt ODIN/WINE to run a lot of the Windows software. At that time...screw 10.

I actually got the beta of Win95, that was pretty slick stuff at the time. I loved it, but it didn't multitask as well as OS/2 so I went back to OS/2.

They'd really have to fix Arca up A LOT for me to use it on my main system though. I have several windows only programs that I use and just to far deep in the Windows ecosystem now to change to something else. But that's ok. I use Windows 10 on my main computers, then I have OS/2 and Linux on some others that I play with.

I remember when 95 came out. Couldn't believe he lines outside of retail
stores of people trying to get it. Was living in Kingman, AZ at the time & couldn't believe it. Myself...kept using DOS 5 or 6.

Actually went to Wal-Mart in Kingman to get some upgrades. Got some 1 MB
sticks for a 386 & found a copy of the red spine edition...since I couldn't afford the blue spine edition. Held onto that for years & would play with it through the years...even after working for Gateway & buying one of their systems on employee purchase. Hated it that I only could afford 1 computer at the time & for a long time. Now...I have two RPi's...an AMD system I'm using right now & the ThinkCentre I bought for $50 a couple of weeks ago to run ArcaOS on with a 1 TB HDD. May even get another stick of memory very cheap. Things have changed from the old days.
