we are using pure-ftpd in several places, and not so often vsftpd.
    both works well.

It has been some time since I used it for anything serious, but vsftpd was nice to work with. What I don't remember is if it used explicit tls, or implicit tls.

FTP or FTPS (secure FTP) or SFTP (SSH FTP subsystem)?
I would definitely not miss FTP.
Haven't used it for many years.

lead me to what is the best ftps server that is stable ?

Just use SFTP, which is part of the SSH Server that you probably run anyways.

i have using both, but only as a ftp:// protocol service, guides on how to setup ftps and sftp is more or less madness on docs

    ftp://ftp:[email protected]/pub/ still works
