• FRL-1033.003 (Automatic config of points)

From Dale Barnes@1:106/201 to All on Thu Oct 22 08:42:30 2020
Does anyone know if the above ever got off the ground or any type of automatic point config currently exists in any form for any of the systems out there?

    Thanks

Search the nodelist for the CDP user flag.

Yes it did and, from memory, I think it only ever gained some sort of popularity in R24.

    Hello, Michiel!

Thursday October 22 2020 16:17, from Michiel van der Vlist -> Dale Barnes:

Does anyone know if the above ever got off the ground or any type
of automatic point config currently exists in any form for any of
    the systems out there?

The question is if there a PoC (Prove of Concept) implementation of this standard and anybody really uses it?

Search the nodelist for the CDP user flag.

Another interesting approach the author of a popular Android FTN app called HotDogEd took is a new REST API with some XML scheme for a point request, refer to the doc here http://hotdoged.propush.ru/docs

The answers are: yes and yes.

Search the nodelist for the CDP user flag.

But I do not know the details. That is why I suggested contacting the sysops that carry a CDP flag.

There was one Dale, used in Z2. Sadly, much to my and others disagreement, the flag was removed due to 'insufficient use' and some feeling a flag for a bossnode of such software, was inappropriate as they 'weren't nodes'.

Wasn't that the one that was voted to remove, over your and my objections? I didn't look to see if folks actually removed it. Ward could have extended it too as I think he was also in favor of it.

Nope. There never was a vote about the flag. The flag is still in use and it is mentioned in FTS-5001.006

There /was/ a vote about promoting FSP-1016.001 to a standard. I voted in favour but the majority of the FTSC members rejected it. And so it ended up as FRL-1033.

Not every proposal makes it into a standard.
