    My first network connection was with gopher. I forget the terminal software I used, but one could dial in to the local library and check out books.

    This lead to a BBS habit later on, that apparently I still have.

    BBS's came first for me, then Jackson State Community College in Jackson,
    TN started a 'freenet' - I would dial in and use Lynx, Gopher, Archie, etc.
